LET'S GET UNCOMFORTABLE! ADDRESSING MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

Mental health affects us all, and has major implications in the workplace. The economic burden of mental illness in Canada is estimated at $51 billion per year, costing Canadian businesses an average of $1,500 per employee annually. Poor mental health leads to employee disengagement, low morale, absenteeism, turnover... the list goes on. Every Canadian has the right to a safe and healthy work environment and smart leaders recognize that psychological wellbeing is a core component to any comprehensive health and safety policy. Elizabeth's Signature Keynote will leave audience members with a deep understanding of how and why mental health must be addressed in the workplace and, even more importantly, feeling empowered to take on a role in doing just that.

SQUEEZE HARDER! CULTIVATE YOUR MENTAL RESILIENCE AND MAKE LEMONADE

What steps are you taking to protect your mental health and build resilience? When life hands us lemons (or bombards us with them!) a resilient mind is able to tap into the necessary tools to get through unanticipated challenges and keep life on track. "Resilience" is a buzzword today, but what does it really mean? In times of difficulty old adages like "everything happens for a reason" serve very little practical purpose and sometimes end up eliciting a sense of helplessness rather than empowering us to take charge of our own mental health. Join Elizabeth on a Deep Dive into what resilience is all about and how to make it work for you.

SUICIDE: THE PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT

In a society where mental health awareness is consistently improving, misconceptions about suicide continue to hold us back from talking about it and recognizing it as a health-related issue that kills thousands of Canadians each year. Audience members will see suicide differently and feel better prepared to have difficult but lifesaving conversations in the future.

THE 7 HABITS OF PSYCHOLOGICALLY SAFE AND HEALTHY WORKPLACES

What does it mean to be truly proactive about mental health in the workplace? Provincial laws have dictated employer responsibilities related to physical health and safety for years but many organizations have difficulty promoting positive mental health, instead focusing on managing issues as they arise. Learn what your workplace can do to get out ahead of the storm.
